The Rainbow Six Siege (R6) Marketplace — Ubisoft is expanding its vibrant community by creating new ways for players to interact with their favorite game. This blog post discusses the features, advantages and potential effects of a given marketplace that we believe will change how players trade / attain items in games.

What is the R6 Marketplace?

R6 Marketplace is a built-in marketplace officially provided by Ubisoft where Rainbow Six Siege players can buy and sell in-game items like skins (and charms) using R6 Credits. The purpose of this marketplace is to offer a legal and safe transaction platform which can help in limiting the risks linked with trading on third party platforms.

What Exactly is the Marketplace?

The mechanics of the marketplace are a basic buy-and-sell mechanism.

Purchasing Items: Players have the ability to search through available items in a market, set their max price target (up until which they are willing to pay) and Taylor purchase order. The system then automatically connects the buyer to sellers at selling price offering him a deal on buying this item.

Items for Sale: Players put their tradable items up on the marketplace, specify an asking price and create a sell order. Ubisoft is then charged a 10% transaction fee when the item sells.

Order & History Management: Manage your active orders and done deals in real time, adjust prices, or cancel unfilled orders on the fly.

Eligibility and Access

In order to participate in the marketplace, players must meet a number of qualifications.

They must be clearance level 25 at minimum

They must have 2FA enabled on their accounts.

The marketplace launched in beta, and a full release is set for Year 9 Season 2.

Not only does the Marketplace provide a new way for players to improve and customize their gameplay, but it also comes with several other benefits: it can be viewed as safer and more secure, since centralization creates less fraud due to “residence” on an official platform. Moreover, a robust Marketplace sets the basis for a more involved community. People can trade the items they do not require or want for those they desire, contributing to a more connected and active fan base. Lastly, the Marketplace makes the economy dynamic. One of the reasons marketplaces are praised lies in the fact that the otherwise constant in-game circumstances, the value of items may significantly change due to the rarity and necessity for the player, thus providing a consumers’ game field. Possible Effects on Gameplay The introduction of the R6 Marketplace into the game must produce various changes.
